Information on obtaining a security license.

5 STAR Event Services is licensed to provide security in the state of Texas by the Texas Department of Public Safety – Private Security Bureau. In order to work a security position, you need to complete the training course and obtain a security officer card issued by the State of Texas. DPS charges approximately $65.00, and the license is good for two years. Additionally, there is a $10 fee that will be paid to DPS for a background check of your fingerprints.

Level II New Application Instructions

If you currently have a security officer card through 5 STAR and need to renew your card OR, if you have a valid security officer card through another company and work for 5 STAR, you’ll need to contact our office to send an update to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

You must print a receipt and submit it to the 5 STAR Office in order to continue working and scheduling online. If your card expires and we have not received the renewal receipt, our scheduling system will lock you out because it thinks you are expired.
